How records are published, how to assess their scope, and what to check before using results.
Dataset availability
Catalog records include names, versions, scope, sources, and available quality information. Inputs, outputs, and LCIA results appear only when released for public use.
Comparing datasets
Compare results only when functional unit, reference flow, method, geography, time, and system boundary are compatible.
Sources and provenance
Record pages distinguish documented source information from search assistance. Missing source information remains unfilled.
Versions and withdrawals
Each dataset version has its own link. Withdrawn or restricted content is removed from the catalog.
Availability and permission to reuse
A public catalog entry does not by itself grant permission to reuse the underlying data. Review the source and licence for each version; inputs, outputs and impact results have separate availability indicators.
Using description search
Describe the dataset you need, including product, geography, period and technology. The Portal can show initial keyword matches while it prepares results for your description. These are search suggestions, not a scientific review or an AI-generated dataset.
Saving and comparing versions
Use a shortlist to keep Process and Flow versions with your notes. Comparison accepts 2–4 Process versions and checks the displayed fields. Check system boundaries and study suitability yourself, and export a shortlist backup before changing browsers.
