Chinese Environmentally Extended Input-Output (CEEIO) database

WHAT IS CEEIO?

CEEIO is the result of near decade-long research of using environmentally extended input-output models studying China's environmental issues led by Prof. Ming Xu at Tsinghua University in collaboration with Prof. Sai Liang at Guangdong University of Technology and Prof. Xi Tian at Nanchang University.

CEEIO consists of benchmark economic input-output tables published by the Chinese government statistics agency and environmental satellite accounts compiled from multiple sources. Technical details such as data sources, compilation methods, and assumptions are available as Technical Notes included in the downloadable files.

The development of CEEIO was partially supported by the Kenneth G. Lieberthal and Richard H. Rogel Center for Chinese Studies at the University of Michigan.

Version 1.1 is available now.

"Construction wastes" is removed.
- Construction waste contains wastes from both construction and demolition processes. The part of construction waste from construction process should be recorded under ‘construction’ sector, while the part of construction waste from demolition processes should be recorded under ‘Fixed capital formation’ as the consequence of the inverse of ‘capital accumulation’. However, there is no data available to distinguish the amount of construction process from that of the demolition process. Thus, we deleted construction waste from this version.
Data reliability is added with color coding
- Cells highlighted in yellow mean that data for those indicators are unavailable from China's statistics. We set them as zeroes in current EEIO database.
- Cells highlighted in red mean that data are estimated based on monetary output of this year and intensity factor of other years. Those data may be less reliable.
- Cells not highlighted in colors mean that data are from government statistics or peer-reviewed estimation methods. Those data are reliable.
